It Works Great for Me February 3, 2010

I know there have been a lot of negative reviews of this program, mainly due to bad installs or slow performance. I had zero problems installing and zero problems running. I don't mean to doubt those who have had problems, but just to let people know that not everyone has problems with this program.

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64, Duo Core 2.4 ghz, with 4G ram. I had been running Roxio Easy Creator 10 before this. According to tech support, you should completely remove the earlier program before installing the new one. That process involved editing the registry, so I took a chance and didn't follow their directions. All I did was uninstall 10 and installed 2010.

The menus are sleeker, and the functions are a little quicker than the previous version. My only complaint, the only problem with both this program and its predecessor, is that it will not burn 5.1 tracks for me. My camcorder records in 5.1 but when I transfer the files and burn them with Roxio, I get only 2.0 stereo.

I read all the negative reviews and really hesitated to buy this program. However, I am very happy I did, beecause I can now burn DVDs off my Panasonic HD camcorder! (The software that came with it was absolutely horrible and I could rarely get it to work correctly.) Within 2 hours, I was able to figure out how to import my movies from my camera, piece them together, and burn onto a DVD. It did come with a nice users manual, which I consulted a bit. But it was way more intuitive that the other program I used.

Having said this, I'm sure I could have downloaded some smaller, cheaper program program to do what I needed, but I am not technically savvy enough to accomplish that -- though I did try. So for someone like me, this program is awesome! I use Windows XP, and didn't notice it to be hugely slow. Again, I'm comparing it to Image Mixer, which I HATE!

Very Easy to Use Product that Does the Job February 18, 2010

I am very happy with Roxio Creator 2010. This is the first time I have ever used a product like this. I have been using the software that came with my computer which is pretty basic.

Pros:

I installed this on my old computer that has windows XP, 512 RAM and about 90 MB of free space left on my hard drive and this works fine. A lot of new software requires more memory so if you have an older computer this is an option.

I found the tutorials extremely helpful. They are broken up into four categories:

Data-Copy
Video-Movies
Music-Audio
Photo's

You can either watch a video or print a PDF file. This is a great feature and very helpful.

If you don't want to use the tutorial you can go directly to either the Data-Copy,
Video-Movies, Music-Audio or Photo's section. The layout of the sections and options offered make doing specific tasks like copying photos from my digital camera to disk easy.

Technical support was available either by phone, chat or e-mail.

The automatic update feature loaded a new update as soon as the software was installed.

CD and it was easy.

Cons:

This took a long time to load. My guess is over 15 minutes. I have yet to install this on my new computer. It may load faster on that one.

Other than that I have no complaints.

I am very happy with this. It is easy to use and very helpful for someone new to the software. I can only compare this to what came with my computer and this is so much better that there is no comparison.

I had previous experience with a Roxio. One of my laptops had a factory installed Sonic (which is a sub-brand of Roxio). Aside from the long installation time (which is actually negligible), I find this video software to be easy to use, not a lot of learning curve to do. You are able to do a variety of stuff: Burning data, image and audio onto a disc, copy a disc, create a dvd, video conversion and editing. With an optional USB connection cables, you'll be able to capture analog videos from VHS, 8mm or Hi-8 and place them onto a disc. I tried to create a dvd from a home movie that is saved from my laptop and the step by step procedure for doing this was very easy. Along with creating a dvd, you'll be able to make personal enhancements, adding your own music and style. I was very impressed with what you can actually do with this software. One thing I found very useful was the video conversion function where I was able to convert a video to be able to play it on an MP3 player. The function outline of Roxio 2010 reminds me of Nero 9 which is installed in my other pc. From the home screen, you can basically figure out what you need to do and just click. Very functional and not a lot of figuring out to do. I love how this software delivers advance capabilities but the tasking the software is simplicity itself. Very happy so far!
